One of the NC Arts Councils arts in education programs, cARTwheels, a performance and artist residency experience, will be dedicated the NC Arts Council Oct. 16-20 when Macon County 4th graders and teachers participate in an interdisciplinary experience with puppeteer Hobie Ford. Students will learn about storytelling and folktales and will experience a shadow puppet performance. After the performance, all students will put their engineering skills to work and learn more about the science of light waves behind the performance. Teachers will also receive a workshop to learn how to incorporate the arts into their English/Language Arts classes through storytelling and performance.
